You may submit a single product/service for consideration in more than one category, however, the application fee will be charged per category. Judges will score each entry on a 1-5 scale to identify the top solution in each of the following categories.
- BIOTECH INNOVATION: Championing innovation in the face of great competition. This category showcases products and service that are forward thinking and have the greatest opportunity to have a big impact on the industry.
- TECHNOLOGY INNOVATION: Utilizing technology to shape the industry. This category highlights products and services that are using innovative technology solutions to better serve the industry and promote innovation.
- DATA ANALYTICS/BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE: Excellence in data analytics. This category recognizes greatness in business intelligence using data science, data management, and data analytics to better serve the industry.
- DIGITAL HEALTH SOLUTION: Forward thinking digital innovation. This category showcases the best use of digital technology and mobile apps to better serve the industry.
- Drug Delivery Technology: Drug delivery technologies are shaping the industry. This category recognizes excellence and innovation in the latest drug delivery technologies.
In addition, we'll recognize three "Best in Show" winners from among all entries, based on the entry's ability to save money, engage patients or revolutionize the industry.

Judges will evaluate all qualified submissions based on the following criteria:
- EFFECTIVENESS: Does the product or service deliver what it promises? Are there quantifiable metrics or case study data that demonstrates the value?
- TECHNICAL INNOVATION: Is the product or service technologically ahead of the curve? Are you employing new systems or processes that have not yet been implemented in the industry?
- COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE: Can the product or service deliver a genuine competitive advantage that would better enable business processes?
- FINANCIAL IMPACT: Does the product or service enable new revenue opportunities or greatly enhanced cost savings? Does it streamline workflow in a way that would lead to new operational efficiencies?
- TRUE INNOVATION: How unique is the entry? What problem does it solve? Has it pioneered a new way of doing things? Does it fit the definition of "game changing?"
All submissions to judges will be blind, and they will not be reviewed by members of the Fierce editorial team.
Jennifer brings more than 10 years of strategic marketing experience in the life sciences technology industry.
Michael is a dynamic consulting executive with more than eighteen years of experience assisting organizations improve business performance by leading the development and deployment of new strategies, processes, and enabling technology. He has global experience in the financial services, consulting, biopharmaceuticals and medical device industries. Currently, Michael is the Pharmaceutical and Life Sciences R&D Advisory Services Leader for PricewaterhouseCoopers’ and is based in New York City. Michael is primarily focused on pharmaceutical research and development and his expertise ranges from strategic business planning, to predictive analytics, to outsourcing strategy and specific R&D compliance challenges. His areas of R&D specialization include: TA strategy, restructuring and diligence, operations planning, data analytics protocol design, trial recruitment, senior-management decision support, demand management, portfolio strategy & visualization, organization design, capacity planning, and process engineering. Prior to joining PwC, he was the founder and president of Intendere Consulting, a specialized consultancy established to develop and execute practical R&D services and strategies for pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. Earlier in his career he was a management consultant in the Life Science Strategy practice at Deloitte Consulting based in New York City. Currently, Michael is leading several projects dealing with R&D operations transformation, predictive R&D analytics, CRO outsourcing strategies and R&D compliance initiatives. Throughout the past few years Michael has been the chief architect for some of the largest R&D operations transformations done in the industry. Michael holds a B.S. in Industrial / Organizational Psychology and a B.S. in Biology from Brooklyn College and a M.A. in Organization Psychology from Columbia University. He is a visiting professor for several universities and teaches Operations, Organization Behavior and Leadership. Michael also serves on the board of the American Humane Association.

As Chief Product Officer and Partner at THREAD (THREADresearch.com), I lead our efforts to change the way clinical research and care is delivered as the leader in our mobile-first, omni-channel platform delivered via Apple’s open-source SDKs (HealthKit, ResearchKit, CareKit) and Android ResearchStack. THREAD contributed to 4 of the first 8 ResearchKit studies and works with Biopharmaceutical companies, healthcare providers, payers and CROs to provide our platform to leaders in the remote patient research and care revolution. Named one of the Top 100 Influencers in Digital Health, I provide expertise and execution experience in digital health strategy, remote patient research and care, virtual clinical trials, Phase I - IV clinical research, patient reported outcomes, patient engagement, mobile health, omni-channel experience and virtual reality. I’m also a keynote speaker at global industry events, guest lecturer at Duke University on digital health/innovation and a published author featured in various conferences, journals, articles and media outlets.
Deborah Profit has worked in the pharmaceutical industry for over two decades and is currently the Leader, Otsuka Information Technology (OIT) at Otsuka Pharmaceuticals. In this role, Dr. Profit is responsible for the R&D, Commercial and Enterprise arms of the Otsuka IT organization. Dr. Profit has been employed by Otsuka since March 2001 and serves to drive strategy and solutions by means of collaborating with functional departments, key stake holders and external partners to increase the organizations probability of clinical, regulatory and technical success. Dr. Profit is responsible for facilitating creative solutions across clinical development, digital medicine teams, coordinating engagements with external innovation companies/consultancies, and actively leading cross-functional pilots and prototypes. As a member of the Otsuka leadership team, Dr. Profit is also responsible for nurturing a company culture of empowerment and innovation, while carefully assessing, communicating and employing risk mitigation and compliance strategies. Prior to joining Otsuka Information Technology, Dr. Profit served in key roles with in the Otsuka organization to include Director, Corporate Projects for over five years and Director of Clinical Operations for nine years. Preceding 2001, for over seven years Dr. Profit was the Director, Project Management at a top tier global Clinical Research Organization. Dr. Profit possesses undergraduate degrees in nursing and psychology, a Master of Science in Regulatory Affairs - Drugs, Biologics and Medical Device, and earned her Doctorate in Leadership Studies with a concentration in Organizational Innovation and Creativity.
Debra Bingham is a partner with Valeo Partners, headquartered in Washington, DC, a leading consultancy providing advisory services to large and emerging Pharma clients in North America, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America. Debra has more than 16 years of experience working with clients in the drug delivery and pharmaceutical industries. Her clients include multi-national pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device, and chemical companies as well as medium to small specialty pharma and drug delivery companies. As a result of deep area expertise, Debra is often asked to consult in the area of drug delivery. Debra is on the Board of Directors for the Controlled Release Society, a member of the Editorial Advisory Board for the Drug Delivery Technology Magazine, a member of the Advisory Board for the Drug Delivery Partnerships Annual Meeting 2009-2012, is an invited speaker at many industry conferences, and has written numerous articles and white papers on pharmaceutical markets and technologies.
Tim Ruckh is a senior scientist at Verily, the life sciences group in Alphabet. His research and entrepreneurship experience has focused on applying nanotechnology to life sciences as drug delivery and bioanalytical sensor platforms. He has served in local and national leadership positions in several professional and advocacy groups over the past decade. Tim earned his BS (mechanical engineering) from University of Minnesota and his MS (mechanical engineering) and PhD (biomedical engineering) from Colorado State University. He performed his postdoctoral research at Massachusetts General Hospital and Northeastern University.
Ferry Tamtoro serves as Director of Digital Accelerator Labs with Amgen, a $22B Biotech company. In this capacity, he is responsible for the development of digital solutions targeted for patients, caregivers, and healthcare providers. He enjoys working as part of a team of intrapreneurs, challenging the status quo and addressing various needs in the healthcare industry. More recently, he has been focused on improving patient health outcomes using technology, specifically in the area of patient engagement, patient experience, medication adherence, and patient-provider communications. Ferry has been passionate in making a difference in patients' lives for over 14 years. He has served in various leadership roles in Innovation, Engineering, Product Management, and Program Management. His experience in healthcare technology covers mobile medical devices, drug delivery devices, diagnostic imaging devices (CT, PET, and X-Ray), infusion systems, and population health management. Ferry holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from University of Wisconsin-Madison and an MBA from Kellogg School of Management.
Dr. Catherine E. Patterson is Director of Scientific Research for Pharmaceutical Development Group (PDG), a pharmaceutical and device consulting company located in Tampa, Florida. She actively participates in safety surveillance activities, clinical trials and regulatory submissions on behalf of PDG clients and offers expertise utilizing her background in Molecular Biology with academic experience in grant writing and publishing. Catherine’s professional experience and love of virology, life science research and scientific presentations began before graduate school while working as a scientist at DuPont Merck in Wilmington, Delaware. Attending Princeton University for her doctorate, joining Fox Chase Cancer Center as a postdoctoral fellow and teaching as an assistant professor for Case Western Reserve University have poised Catherine to advance the treatment of human disease with one-on-one attention to the regulatory needs of healthcare products.
